The Help to Buy Scheme has now closed to new applications. Builders may be offering shared equity and other promotions, but these are not backed by the Government, as Help to Buy was.
For prospective buyers, saving up enough money for a deposit is often the biggest barrier to getting on the property market.
The government’s Help to Buy scheme has made it easier to take the first steps towards home ownership with as little as just 5% deposit. This allows you to take out an equity loan of 15% of the value of the property, meaning you need just a 5% deposit to buy your new home.
The loan is interest-free for the first five years, so you’ll have lower mortgage repayments than you would with a standard mortgage arrangement.
The scheme is available for first- and second-time buyers who do not currently own a property, and it allows you to buy a new build home up to the value of £600,000.
To make your property search easier, we’ve put together a list of Help to Buy houses in Bristol and Bath, broken down by area.
